aroberuka:

the
thing that i really like about susie’s character development though
is that. it doesn’t come from the protagonists at all? in fact it
all happens after she joins the nominal bad guy? like it would
have been so easy to have her stick around the gang and gradually
mellow out from exposure to Actual Cinnamon Roll ralsei. but
instead the good guys attempts at controlling her behaviour (and
yeah, it is literally about
control, the whole point is that you can’t control her actions as a
party member) only succeed in pushing her away and it’s only after
she starts hanging out with someone who’s not trying to change or
control her that she does start to change.

and
like. fiction in general but esp video games are always very
protagonist-centered—how many video games have you played where
there’s just nothing happening if the protagonist isn’t there to
make it happen? but susie’s character arc is wrapped up with zero
input from the player or the player character. in a game that
keeps reminding you, the player, that your choices don’t matter.

in
conclusion deltarune is good and i can’t wait to see where it goes.
